The group exhibition About Love. Windmills invites visitors on an unexpected journey through literature, myth, and the social realities of today.

Curated by a collective of emerging artists brought together specifically for this project – Ona Barbora Šlapšinskaitė, Aleksandr Nazimov, Elinga Garuolytė, Denisas Kolomyckis, Liudvikas Kesminas, Saulė Elena Jurgelytė, Vladimir Mackevich, Vadim Šamkov, Konstantinas Chruškovas, Pavel Pavel, Lukas Dovydėnas, Merkys Žebrauskas, Dominyka Gurskaitė, Milvydas Kezys, Mažvydas Truklickas, Pijus Čeikauskas, and Barbora Matonytė – the exhibition brings together diverse artistic voices in dialogue.

The creative starting point is a literary reference to Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. This iconic novel serves as a conceptual springboard for exploring how love is imagined in contemporary culture, the stereotypes it carries, and the ways these narratives shape our perception of relationships and identity.

Revisiting classic love archetypes – the knight on a white horse, the fairy-tale princess, the castle as a symbol of romantic idealism – the artists employ personal experience, socio-political context, and critical reflection to challenge and reframe these cultural narratives.

Panemunė Castle, with its rich history and symbolic architecture, offers a uniquely fitting space for the exhibition. Its fairy-tale setting becomes more than a backdrop – it is an active participant in the exhibition, where the old and the new intersect to reveal fresh perspectives on love, power, and imagination.
