ARTISTS’ RESIDENCE
A museum-gallery has been operating in Panemune Castle of the Vilnius Academy of Arts since 2012, and in 2024 the doors opened the Artists’ Residence. Artist Residencies is an international and worldwide program that gives artists, creators, researchers the space, time and tools to create in an exceptional location. The activities of residencies can be described as defined and organized actions between creators, institutions, cultural organizations, the common goal of which is to support artists (scientists, creators), strengthen the activities of institutions and give the public the opportunity to get acquainted not only with the final project, but also with the creative process, which giving the creators themselves the opportunity to look for inspiration in unusual, yet exclusive places.
The Panemune Castle Artists’ Residence of Vilnius Academy of Arts opened in 2024 and invites representatives of various fields to create, find peace and inspiration in Panemune Castle. The residence is located in a small village in the Nemunas valley, in a quiet environment full of historical events – mounds, forests, nature and its pleasures, the slow pace of life and the 17th century. the impressive Panemune Castle. The artists’ residence has 12 rooms with private bathrooms, some of them adapted for long-term residence (1-3 months) and for the disabled.
