The 4th Manor Culture Festival “Pan Tadeusz”

The fourth Manor Culture Festival “Pan Tadeusz” invites visitors to travel back to the early 19th century and experience a world inspired by Adam Mickiewicz’s epic poem Pan Tadeusz. This year’s program features living history reenactments, Napoleonic-era soldiers and military maneuvers, educational activities about the everyday life of the nobility, and historical fireworks.

EVENT PROGRAMME

13:00 – Opening of the Festival at the Historical Military Camp

A brief introduction to the festival theme based on the second book of Adam Mickiewicz’s poem Pan Tadeusz, “The Castle.” Marius Daraškevičius and Monika Prūsaitytė interview the camp reenactors.

13:00–00:00 – Historical Military Camp Reenactment

Military history clubs from Lithuania and Poland present Napoleonic-era military maneuvers and camp life in the castle park.

13:00–22:30 – Manor Courtyard Life

The castle courtyard comes alive with a crafts and culinary fair.

14:30–15:30 – Antanas Gelgaudas – A Comic Book Hero!

Meet the authors of the comic book Ignacio’s Adventures and Travels and create your own comic. Ignacio’s adventures tell the story of the 1830–1831 Uprising.

15:00 – Educational Session: “Noble Etiquette and Customs”

An interactive presentation on the traditions of noble etiquette. Led by Dr. Marius Daraškevičius.

16:00 – Discussion and Literary Readings: Pan Tadeusz. The Castle

Readings of selected excerpts from Adam Mickiewicz’s work, accompanied by commentary on the symbolism of the castle and the worldview of the nobility. Alicja Dzisiewicz in conversation with Marius Daraškevičius.

16:30–17:30 – Antanas Gelgaudas – A Comic Book Hero!

Meet the authors of the comic book Ignacio’s Adventures and Travels and create your own comic. Ignacio’s adventures tell the story of the 1830–1831 Uprising.

17:30–18:30 – Manor Dance Workshop

Visitors are invited to join a lesson in simple historical dances, including the Polonaise and other manor dances. Dance workshop and communal dancing in the castle courtyard with the ensemble Saltare Festum (director: Irma Svetlauskienė).

18:30–22:30 – DJ in the Castle Courtyard

19:00 / 20:00 / 21:00 – Evening Castle Tours

22:30 – Historical Fireworks Show “Fire, Go With Me”

A historical fireworks performance inspired by Kazimierz Siemienowicz’s treatise The Great Art of Artillery. A three-part fireworks spectacle in the castle park.

❗️Visitors are encouraged to travel to the event by public transport. Buses from Vilnius and Kaunas stop at the Vytėnai bus stop. After the historical fireworks, return transport to these cities will be available via a special bus service: Panemunė Castle – Kaunas Bus Station – Vilnius Bus Station.
