EARLY MUSIC CONCERT: “THEATRE OF LIGHT AND SHADOW: FRANCESCO CAVALLI AND THE DAWN OF VENETIAN OPERA”
This program transports the audience to mid-17th-century Venice—a bustling, mysterious city renowned for its carnivals and the birthplace of public opera. At the heart of the concert lies the legacy of Francesco Cavalli (1602–1676), a pupil of the brilliant Claudio Monteverdi and the most popular opera composer of his time.
