EARLY MUSIC CONCERT “A WOMAN IN THE AVANT-GARDE OF BAROQUE MUSIC”

EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL CONCERT “A WOMAN IN THE AVANT-GARDE OF BAROQUE MUSIC”

This program is a musical tribute to Barbara Strozzi (1619–1677, Italy)—one of the most brilliant, daring, and prolific creators of 17th-century Europe. Raised within Venetian intellectual circles, the composer overcame the social barriers of her time to become a central figure of the era’s avant-garde. Her vocal works astonish with their dramatic power, harmonic boldness, and profound emotional engagement with the poetic text.

The concert features arias and cantatas by Strozzi that demand not only exceptional vocal mastery but also theatrical expression. Her work represents an intimate, passionate, and strikingly modern dialogue of musical language, in which the female voice emerges as the central dramatic protagonist.

The talented soprano Renata Dubinskaitė and the masterful harpsichordist Vaiva Eidukaitytė-Storastienė will unlock the secrets of 17th-century Venetian salons. We invite you to experience music that was ahead of its time four centuries ago, yet resonates today with undiminished relevance and emotional impact.
